Teeth Whitening in Waterford, MI
Are you looking to achieve a bright, white smile? Have years of drinking coffee or wine left your teeth looking a little dull? If your teeth aren’t as pearly white as you’d like, Dental 1 can help!
The best way to begin any teeth-whitening regimen is to schedule an appointment at our Waterford dental office and talk to Dr. Bruce Roach, Dr. Hyden Choi, or Dr. Alexander Roach. They’ll explain the differences between professional whitening and over-the-counter whitening, and help you choose a treatment that will be most effective for your smile.
Professional Teeth Whitening Options
Dr. Roach, Dr. Choi, and Dr. Roach offer two types of professional teeth whitening at our Waterford dental office: Philips Zoom! and Opalescence GO. With more than 20 years of experience providing teeth whitening, we are well-equipped to help you achieve the white, youthful smile you want.
In-Office Whitening with Philips Zoom!
Our Waterford, MI dental office offers Philips Zoom for in-house professional teeth whitening. During a single appointment, a member of our dental team will apply the Zoom Chairside Light-Activated Gel to the surface of your teeth. The proprietary formula greatly accelerates and enhances the whitening process, and delivers dramatic results in a short amount of time. Along with the all-new Whitening LED Accelerator, your teeth can become up to eight shades lighter in just 45 minutes!
The gel and light work together gently to break up the stains on your teeth, while leaving the structure of your teeth unchanged. After just four 15-minute applications in one hour, you rinse and the treatment is complete, leaving you with a brighter, whiter smile.

Take-Home Whitening with Opalescence® GO
Opalescence GO whitening gel is a highly effective take home whitening treatment in the form of prefilled, disposable trays. With no impressions, models, or lab time required, Opalescence Go is a professional whitening alternative to less-effective over-the-counter options. It can be used on its own to whiten teeth, or as a follow-up treatment after in-office whitening.
Opalescence GO comes in three strengths and contains ingredients to strengthen enamel and reduce sensitivity. It can deliver dramatic results in as little as 15 minutes per day!
Regardless of which type of professional whitening treatment you choose, we will work with you to customize a treatment plan identifying how often whitening should be performed and determining any necessary care to avoid risk or complications.
Over-the-Counter Whitening Options
Teeth-whitening treatments that are available at your local grocery or drug store contain similar ingredients to their professional-whitening counterparts, but since they have a lower concentration of the active ingredients, they will be less effective. They also may be less expensive than professional whitening. It’s always wise to consult with the dentists at Dental 1 if you choose to whiten your teeth with over-the-counter products.
- Teeth-whitening strips are thin, flexible plastic (polyethylene) strips with a thin film of hydrogen peroxide on one side. Whitening strip kits come with two types of strips: strips for the upper teeth and strips for the lower teeth. The whitening agent is applied by placing the strips across your teeth and gently pressing the strips to ensure contact with all your teeth. Teeth-whitening strips are typically worn for 30 minutes a day, twice a day. The duration of treatment will vary.
- Paint-on teeth whiteners consist of a gel that is applied to the tooth using a small brush. Paint-on whitening gel hardens into a film that coats the teeth, and dissolves in the mouth.
- Whitening toothpastes affect surface stains and will mildly lighten your teeth. However, unlike the materials used in professional whitening procedures, these products do not lighten the actual color shade of the teeth.
